5th Annual Veritas Lecture & Gala Dinner
featuring Archbishop Harry Flynn and EWTN's Raymond Arroyo

"Catholic Education and the State of American Culture"
February 10, 2012
7:00 p.m.
Cajundome Convention Center

Renowned nationwide for his commitment to Catholic education, Archbishop Harry J. Flynn was Bishop of Lafayette from 1989 to 1994. During his service in Lafayette, Archbishop Flynn dedicated himself to a renewal of Catholics' commitment to the Eucharist, both in Holy Mass and in Perpetual Adoration. Flynn later served as Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, retiring in 2007. His Excellency will engage one of the most important questions of our age: "How can Catholic schools positively impact the secular world around them?" Based on his fifty-plus years of service as priest and bishop, Archbishop Flynn's insight will inspire all to serve the common good. In a society where hollow rhetoric gets so much airtime, Archbishop Flynn's substantive, friendly demeanor will be welcome.

The evening will also feature celebrity emcee Raymond Arroyo, who hosts EWTN's The World Over. Arroyo is also an internationally recognized, award-winning journalist, producer, and bestselling author. He has worked for the Associated Press, the political columist team of Evans and Novak, and as a Capitol Hill Correspondent. To showcase the school, a handful of students will perform selections from the Academy's fine arts and public speaking program.

The event will conclude with a commentary by Dr. Kevin Roberts, founder of John Paul the Great Academy, who speaks around the country on the topics of Catholic culture, education, and family policy.
