Cultivating
Happiness - A Day of Renewal for Women
Saturday, August 21, 2010 (9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
Jesuit Spirituality Center, Grand Coteau, Louisiana
Modern life provides an overload of sensory
stimulation, attempting to convince us that if why we buy the latest
gadget or wear the newest fashion we will find happiness. This day
of renewal allows us to retreat to a quiet place and reconnect with
our loving Creator. We will identify obstacles to happiness, explore
practices to overcome these, chant in the Christian tradition,
engage in breathing practices and meditation, and do gentle
stretching to increase body awareness. Time for private reflection
and group discussion will be provided. Please bring comfortable
clothes, and a blanket or beach towel.
The presenter will be Andrea Vidrine, CYT, LCSW, author of
Jesus, Yoga & the Way of Happiness: A Christian Yoga Daily
Devotional.
She is a psychotherapist in private practice, and was a licensed
massage therapist for 7 years. Andrea is a certified yoga
instructor.
The fee, which includes lunch, is $40.00.

October 7 - 9, 2010
The Lafayette Diocese's Office of Christian Formation and the North
American Forum on the Catechumenate will co-sponsor "The Initiating
Community: Praying the Rites." The Institute is scheduled for
October 7 - 9, 2010, at the Holiday Inn
(off the Evangeline Thruway)
in Lafayette.
This three-day institute is designed to help participants develop a
greater facility for preparing, adapting, celebrating, and
reflecting on the Rites of Initiation within their particular
community. It is an ideal experience for parish leaders who are
responsible for the liturgical life of the parish: ordained, lay,
liturgists, musicians, ministry coordinators, and all others who
want to deepen their appreciation of the meaning and structure of
the liturgy. The Institute Team from the North American Forum on the
Catechumenate includes Miriam Malone, Michael J. Sheehan, and Chris
Walker.
The cost of participation is $341 per person, which includes tuition
and light refreshments. For those who require overnight
accomodations for the weekend, a block of rooms is being held at the
Holiday Inn in Lafayette at the price of $79 (plus tax) per night.
Participants should contact the hotel at (337) 233-6815 to make

Companions Along the Journey
"A bereavement support group for those suffering the Loss of
a Loved One"
Companions Along the Journey Bereavement
Support Group meets the second Thursday of each month from 6:00 pm
to 8:00 pm at the Immaculata Center, 1408 Carmel Drive, John XXIII
Room.
All, 18 years or older, are welcome to participate in this enriching
education-based ministry to help bereaved people heal from the loss
of a loved one. You will find love, compassion, and opportunities
for hope and healing...a safe place for understading your grief and
for being restored by the Lord who awaits you.
The Support Group brings new people in our lives during difficult
times of loss. Our help on the grief Journey may not always be our
family members or closest friends. Members of the same family may
grieve differently and at a different pace. Not everyone has the
capability of being a companion through grief. Very often someone
new emerges with a similar experience of loss to help us cope with
this transition on life's journey.
Any expereince of loss including...suicide, infertility,
miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, Adoption Placement, and Abortion.
Your privacy and confidentiality will be observed.
The bereavement support group offers a safe, non-judgmental place
for people to do their grief work through prayer, meditation, music,
education-based and small group sharing to honor and acknowledge the
reality of personal loss of a loved one.
Companions Along the Journey offers opportunities for participants
to find strength in the shared activities in order to move through
the losses of life with hope for a renewed vision.
